Have you ever been in a situation where you knew the right thing to do but you did not have the courage to do it? If you have, then you will understand Pilate’s dilemma. Listen to find out what Pilate decides as Pastor Andrew preaches from John 18:38–19:16.
1. Pilate knew the right thing to do, but he didn’t have the courage to do it. Do you sympathize with Pilate’s dilemma? Have you ever been in a situation where you knew the right thing to do but failed to do it? Why do you think Pilate’s dilemma is difficult for us?
2. Pilate’s fear of men paralyzed him to do what was right. Does your desire to please people affect the way you live out your faith? Do you find yourself “hiding” your faith because you fear what people might think of you?
3. Pilate’s fear of consequences paralyzed him to do what was right. Are there any consequences you try to avoid when it comes to your faith? Are there any “costs” that you consider too much for you to handle? What are those consequences or costs? How can you face your fear and follow through with what you know is right? What will help you when you face a similar dilemma as Pilate?
